Students' Diets Hard to Digest

Kentan's young women are eating a lot, but it's strange how they have their meals. Students diets are strange all day long -- breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast
Not all students realize that breakfast is important for the vitality we need all day. Twenty percent don't eat breakfast every day because they don't have time or are reluctant to bother. People who don't eat breakfast usually live alone. Even the people who do eat breakfast have to hurry; they eat in less than 15 minutes.

Lunch
There is no alternative to home made lunches. Most students eat lunches prepared by mothers with onigiri, bread, ramen, ice cream and so on. People who live alone make it themselves. It is a lot of work to prepare such lunches, but the school cafeteria too expensive and small, and has little variety.

Dinner
Students dinner habits are strange. Some don't have dinner every day. The reason is that "to make dinner is hard work" or "eating alone is lonely." Most students don't cook on their own, preferring to eat ready-made foods or to eat out. They eat out at least once a week, or as much as three times.

Actually most Kentan students regularly eat three meals a day. In fact, some may eat more than that. But although they like eating, they are thin. This is because they are very busy with housework, study and part-time jobs. Others take much time to come to college. So even if they have much food, their lives make them thin. A well-balanced diet is important for their developing into healthy women.

Kentan Students Are Liars!

Can it be true? Yes, they sometimes become liars when attendance is taken, about their appearance, their study and credits.

All students have answered for an absent friend when attendance was taken. Likewise, all students have asked their friends to answer for them when they plan to be absent. Attendance effects grades, so they feel they cannot help telling a lie.

Students tell lies about their appearance. Two thirds of students reported being fat, but without knowing their actual body fat percentage. Conversely, people who say they are not fat do know their body fat amount. Most students prefer a slim body even if their actual body fat is high, which shows they emphasize appearance over reality.

Students are not honest about their studying. Even if they have prepared for a test, most students claim to their friends that they have not. Students can't say that they've studied hard because the have no confidence to do well.

Furthermore, they aren't honest about their passing classes. Most claim to have lost credits at some point, although almost not have. Although grading in junior and senior high school is severe, in junior college it is generous. So although students think they must have failed, in they haven't.

Thus, Kentan students sometimes tell or act a lie. It's wrong, but most of these lies are from modesty rather than dishonesty. However, modesty is not always a virtue, and "honesty is the best policy."

Kentan Students Are Liars!

How do Kentan students come to college? Each transportation has strong points and weak points. Students sometimes make strange decisions about their transportation. These are their choices: walking, bicycle, train, bus and car.

Walking and Bicycle
Students who come by walking and bicycle make some dangerous choices during their (at most) 30 minute commute. Even if it rains, the students who ride bicycles come by bicycle using an umbrella, which is dangerous. Visibility and balance are poor when using an umbrella on a bicycle. So these students should walk when it rains. Walking is good for health, although walking in the dark is dangerous.

Trains and Buses
Students who come by public transportation don't acknowledge the advantages of this way. The majority of students come by train or bus, which takes on average 60 to 90 minutes. These students can always arrive on time because trains and busses run on schedule. Also public transportation reduces pollution. But students rather complain about having to care about the schedules and the fares. Moreover, it's a long walk from Ogata Station to the school.

Private Cars
Some students come to school by car, which is quite wasteful. These students can come whenever they like and often in the shortest time. However, driving presents more dangers than any other means of transportation. Furthermore, cars emit exhaust, which is environment pollution. Most students drive alone, also wasting gas.

Thus there are more merits than demerits. Sometimes the demerits can be danger and even environmental problems. And in spite of making their best choice, students often complain about their transportation. Students should consider more careful about how they get to the Kentan.
